The story of the West is West is as rib tickling as its predecessor, East is East. Director Andy DeEmmony had ensured that the script was sufficient on the humor side, the catalyst for the movie's success.
In the movie, Om Puri dons the role of George Khan, the Pak born British citizen. He is having troubles with the behaviours of his school going youngest son, Sajid (Aqub Khan). Sajid turns rebellious as he is subject to harsh racial attacks in his British school, something experienced by most Asian born English settlers. He becomes very irritating both at school and home and at this point, George decides to take a back trip to his homeland, Pakistan.
However things change when his British wife Ella (Linda Bassett) also hops into the wagon. The emotional turmoil George undergoes on visiting his family he had left 30 years ago and the meeting of his ex wife and British wife have been beautifully depicted in the movie.
